Project-specific pricing

A considered scope. A clear quotation.

The estimating fee should reflect the work involved. Share the available plans, requested trades, and deadline so the deliverables and price can be defined together.

WHAT AFFECTS THE FEE

The work behind
the estimate.

Drawing volume

Sheet count, detail density, schedules, specifications, and the number of drawing issues.

Trade coverage

One defined package requires a different review from a coordinated multi-trade estimate.

Design completeness

Missing details and developing selections can introduce additional questions and allowance work.

Project complexity

Existing conditions, phasing, repeated areas, specialty systems, and scope interfaces.

Required output

Quantities only, labor/material pricing, marked drawings, and specific workbook organization.

Deadline & changes

The requested schedule, review milestones, alternates, issued addenda, and subsequent revisions.

BEFORE CONFIRMING A QUOTE

Agree on more
than the fee.

01What should the estimating quotation identify?

The project and drawing issue, included trades and areas, deliverable formats, pricing basis where requested, timing, assumptions, exclusions, and the treatment of revisions or addenda.

02Are labor and materials always included?

No. A quantities-only takeoff and a priced estimate are different assignments. Identify whether you need quantities for internal pricing or a breakdown that includes the agreed labor, material, equipment, and other costs.

03How are rush work and addenda handled?

Include your deadline with the initial inquiry. Feasibility, rush terms, and the cost or timing of subsequent drawing changes are confirmed for the assignment. No fixed rush promise or unlimited revision entitlement is implied.

04Can ongoing estimating support be discussed?

Yes. Describe the expected projects, trade scope, document volume, and bid schedule. Any ongoing arrangement needs its own defined deliverables, capacity expectations, and commercial terms.
